Sequoias and the Sierras

You really see where your priorities lay when you are packing your backpack for a long hike. The fact that I decided to wear the same outfit for 4 days straight-aside from under garments- just to have more space and to free up more lbs to fit my Nikon and 2 lenses. It was completely and totally worth it. The 50 miles under my feet it took to explore these lands, and the decision to wear the same shorts for 4 days to fit my gear...

5 of us went on an epic adventure through the back country of the Sequoias in the Sierras of California.  We hiked Rae lakes loop, a 50 mile radius of trails, wildlife, mountains, rocks, meadows, waterfalls, butterflies, clouds, flowers, bridges, ridges, switchbacks, rivers, dirt, wet, hot, cold, dry, low, and high and gloriously fresh air.
We did about 11 miles a day, started at 5,900 ft, summited at 12,000 while walking the ridge of Glenn pass, and did it all in just 4 days.
Juggling a camera with a 45lb backpack strapped to your back while trekking it to the next camp before sundown is no easy task, but each photo was an opportunity to take in my surroundings with an artful eye. Such beauty. Man pays a lot of money to have backyards and gardens landscaped as organically and gorgeously as these untouched lands did so naturally.

I could have walked a couple hundred more miles.
I guess I will have to wait until the next trip. Mt Whitney??
